The Slate Folding eBike packs a serious amount of tech into a package that fits into the trunk of a car.
Folding bikes are popular with riders who live in small spaces such as sailboats or in recreational vehicles. They are also good choices for travelers.
With 5 pedal assist modes and weighing in a 64 pounds, the Slate is powered by a 500w electric motor and 48V 15A battery, which give it a range of 50-60 miles on a charge.
The Slate rolls on 20-inch wheels wrapped in 3″ skin side road tires. Logan HD-E500 hydraulic brakes provide stopping power, while a 1×7 Shimano drivetrain allows for gear shifts. Up front a suspension fork with adjustable teavel of 90-110mm and hydraulic lockout smooths out the ride.
The Slate folding eBike is available in one size and should fit riders between 5’0″ and 6’2″ tall and has a payload capacity of 350 pounds, including rider.
In terms of safety and security, the Slate has some impressive features. In addition to tracking ride data such as, speed, battery level and PAS mode, the LED integrated color display also serves as an anti-theft device. When it is detached from the handlebars, the bike is inoperable. The slate also as a dual-bulb headlight, taillight, brake lights and turn signals.
The Slate is available for $1,499 at mokwheel.com. It is available in slate, denim or jungle camouflage color schemes.
