The Ride1Up Portola is a budget-priced folding eBike that is big on features and color schemes. Folding eBikes generally fit in the trunk of cars and are popular with riders who live in small spaces such as sailboats or recreational vehicles.

The Portola is offered with two battery-size options. The 10.4ah model has a range of 20-40 miles, and the 13.4Ah version has a range of 25-45 miles on a single charge. Both versions come with a 750-watt rear hub motor.

The Portola’s drivetrain is a 1×8 Shimano Altus with an 11-32 tooth freewheel. The brakes are dual piston hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors. With space-saving in mind, the Portola is equipped with 20″ wheels wrapped in 3″ cross-country low-tread tires.

Both wheels are wrapped in fenders to protect the bike and rider from water and road grime. A headlight up front and tail/brake light combo in the rear provide visibility and safety. The rear rack can hold 130 pounds and includes pannier side mounts. Like the Cafe Cruiser, the Portola has an optional passenger kit that comes with a padded seat and foot pegs.

The Portola weighs 59 pounds, has a weight limit of 300 pounds, including rider, and can fit riders from 4’10” to 6’4″ tall.

The Ride1Up Portola is available in gloss charcoal, sea turquoise or matte indigo color schemes.

The 10.4ah battery model retails for $995 and the 13.4ah model retails for $1,195 at ride1up.com. The bikes ship free, come with a 1-year warranty and a 30-day return policy.
