Former Florida Lawmaker Loranne Ausley injured in triathlon crash
Former Florida Lawmaker Loranne Ausley was injured in bike crash during a triathlon last weekend, according to a Facebook post.
Ausley’s husband, attorney Bill Hollimon posted on her Facebook account:
“This is Bill Hollimon, Loranne’s husband. Many of you may know that Loranne was involved in a bike accident yesterday during her triathlon in North Florida. She underwent a successful neck surgery this morning and is stable. Her family and friends are here with me. We will post updates as necessary. To make this easier on Loranne’s loved ones, we ask that you please send only healing thoughts and prayers, rather than messages.”
Ausley is a four-time IronMan finisher. It is unclear if she was participating in the Panama City Beach IronMan that took place last weekend.
On Nov. 8, Hollimon posted another update on Ausley’s Facebook page:
“Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers for Loranne. Forgive me for my sporadic updates but this is a tough time for me and my family. She is still in the hospital and slowly but surely improving. We don’t know the full extent of her injuries but she is receiving the care she needs and her family and friends have not left her side. Loranne is the strongest woman I know and is fighting hard to get well.”
She is an attorney with Holliman, P.A. and Democratic politician who served as a member of the Florida Senate from 2020 until 2022. Prior to her time in the Senate, she represented the Tallahassee area in the Florida House of Representatives from 2000 to 2008 and then again from 2016 to 2020.
According to her profile on Holliman’s website, Loranne Ausley currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Child Success and the Claude Pepper Foundation. Ausley is a member of the Orange Bowl Committee and Leadership Florida’s Class XX, and a NewDEAL Leader.
