University of Florida Cycling Team needs financial support for 2025 season
The University of Florida Cycling Team wants to finish at the top of the Southeastern Collegiate Cycling Conference Standings but they need your help to do it.
Last year, the team had four riders, which has caused a financial problem, since funding from the University is based on the prior year’s roster. This year the team already has 19 riders, so they’ve set up a GoFundMe to help raise money to get the team to races.
“For 2025, we received $2,000 from the UF Student Government, and we have raised an additional $2,500 between sponsorships, uniform sales, and other fundraising efforts,” the team wrote on the GoFundMe page. “However, in total, our costs for this season will be $18,575.”
The team has a $15,000 goal, which will be used to pay for:
- Registrations – $12,900 (it is approximately $100 per rider per weekend to race a road race, time trial, and criterium)
- Lodging – $2,500 (for 6 travel races including nationals in Wisconsin)
- Gas – $1,000
- MTB Training Trip – $1,000
- Race Supplies – $400 (water to fill bottles, ice for ice socks, drink mix, maintenance on race equipment)
- Storage Unit – $350
- Miscellaneous – $300 (shipping for sponsorship packets, team social events, etc.)
- Annual USA Cycling Dues – $125
So far the team has raised slightly more than $1,200.
The University of Florida Cycling Team is 40 years old and has a rich and successful history, including 63 conference titles and 13 national championships.
