The Puckipuppy GoldenR and Labrador are both dual-suspension, fat-tire electric bikes. Just as their namesakes are both dogs in the retriever family, these two bikes share some similarities, but also have some distinct differences.
The differences between the Puckipuppy GoldenR and Labrador
The most obvious difference between the Puckipuppy GoldenR and Labrador is that the GoldenR has two motors, while the Labrador only has one. The motors in the GoldenR are located in each of the wheel hubs. Electric bikes with two motors offer some advantages over single motor electric bikes, such as increased power and traction.
With its two motors combined, the GoldenR puts out 1,600 watts peak power, while the Labrador will give you 960 watts.
With the extra motor, comes extra weight. The Labrador weighs 75 pounds, while the GoldenR comes in at 93 pounds.
The location of the rear suspension linkage differs between the two models as well. On the GoldenR, the linkage is attached to the seat tube, while the Labrador’s linkage is on the top tube.
Price is another difference between the two ebikes. The Labrador is currently on sale for $1,400 at puckipuppy.com while the GoldenR is currently priced at $2,000.
Similarities between the two eBikes
Both bikes roll on 26×4″ fatbike tires, have hydraulic disc brakes with 180mm rotors and Shimano 1×7 drivetrains. They also share a common 48V 20Ah removable battery and a range of up to 80 miles on a charge.
They both have five pedal assist modes and as Class 2 eBikes, have a top speed of 20 mph using the throttle only and 28 mph while using pedal assist.
Both are full-suspension bikes with adjustable front and rear shocks.
