The Mokwheel Mesa Lite 2.0 is the second generation of the lightweight commuter electric bicycle that rolls on 27.5-inch wheels.
Weighing in at 58 pounds, the Mesa Lite is, as the name implies lighter than many electric bikes currently on the market.
While it’s light on pounds, the Mokwheel Mesa Lite is heavy on features. A 350-watt motor that produces peak power of 650 watts can propel the bike up to 28 mph using one of the five pedal assist modes. A 36-volt battery, that is integrated into the frame, gives the Mesa a range of 40-50 miles per charge.
The ubiquitous 1×7 drivetrain is also found on the Mokwheel Mesa Lite. In this case a Shimano rear derailleur is in play. Mechanical disc brakes help stop the 27.5-inch wheels that are wrapped in 2.4-inch tires
An adjustable front suspension fork help absorb bumps in the road. A front headlight and rear and side brake/tail lights provide visibility and safety. The Mokwheel Mesa Lite can hold up to 300 pounds, including the rider and anything carried on the rear cargo rack.
It’s available in three different colors: mocha, sage and sky blue and one frame size to suit most adults with a height between 5’6″ and 6’6″.
The Mesa Lite currently retails for $1,099 at mokwheel.com. A step-thru version of the Mesa 2.0, which has a lower top tube is also available. Read about that bike here.
