The Murf Otis Electric Bike is the latest offering from the surf-inspired California company.
Touted as a do-it-all daily driver, the Otis can easily serve as a commuter, grocery-getter, or beach cruiser. The option to run as a Class 2 or Class 3 eBike, means that you can choose your top speed and ability to have a throttle only mode.
With BMX-style handlebars, the Otis presents an upright and comfortable riding style. In Class 3 mode, 750-watt rear-hub motor can propel the Otis to a top speed of 28 mph using pedal assist and 20 mph, using the thumb throttle. The 52-volt, UL-certified battery gives the Murf Otis a range of up to 60 miles on a single charge. A full recharge typically takes 5-6 hours.
As with most Class 3 eBikes, the Otis has five-pedal assist modes. A handlebar mounted display shows relevant ride data such as speed, distance, and battery level.
The Otis comes with a single-speed drivetrain and Tektro hydraulic disc brakes. The 26″ by 2″ tires give this rigid frame bike a supple ride. Standard safety features include a 550 Lumen front headlight and integrated rear brake/taillights.
The Otis weighs 55 pounds and is available in Obsidian Black, Marine Blue, or Raw color schemes and retails for just under $2,000 at murfelectricbikes.com.

In 2016, Murf Electric Bikes was founded in California. The company was born based on the mission to find better surf with friends, more often and get to it faster and easier than ever before. Parking at Murf Founder Josh Jones’ favorite spots had become a hassle, and riding a regular bike to the more remote spots took too much time. Jones wanted something fast, powerful, reliable and comfortable. And it had to look good too. With a Beach Cruiser design and vibe, the Murf was born.
